SYNOPSIS
In short, if gang wars are your thing, this 'Cartel' will offer a lot of killings, assassinations and gun battles. All the episodes, especially the unexpected climax, will increase your curiosity and leave you wanting more while pointing to the next season.
STORY:
‘Cartel’ tells the story of five gangs ruling in Mumbai; the king of Dharavi 'Anna', the taxi and private regulator and petitioners who defrauded the king 'Gajraj', the cricket betting manager and Bollywood movie director 'Chairman', the trafficker, arms and drug lord 'Khan' and the Boss of Aarey 'Angre'. The plot focuses on Rani Maai's revenge and Aarey's royal play.
REVIEW:
Hosted in modern-day Mumbai, 'Cartel' focuses on the city's criminal activities through its underground business. And the reason that Mumbai has not faced any gang-related violence in the last 15 years is because of the understanding that Rani Maai (Supriya Pathak) had exposed it to other party leaders; Anna (Kannan Arunachalam), Gajraj (Shubhrajyoti Barat), Chairperson (Ashwath Bhatt) and Khan (Anil George). Their illegal businesses are separated from the designated areas, on the condition that "no one will interfere with another person's business."
Rani Maai is a strong woman herself. He relies heavily on the shoulders of his two nieces - Madhukar Mhatre aka Madhu Bhau (Jitendra Joshi) and Arjun Mhatre aka Major Bhau (Tanuj Virwani) - who he treats as his sons and blood, Abhay Angre (Ritvik Dhanjani). When Rani Maai was shot in his last house, leaving him in a coma, it was his three sons who revolted at the event seeking revenge while keeping their business afloat in front of other criminal masters. This seems to be the beginning of a great war for gangs.
The first episodes take a long time to introduce all the characters and set the whole scene. However, recent episodes are accelerating and boosting this exciting quotient by exposing how these monarchs carry out their illegal activities and how political, legal, and business organizations are linked to the elite. All the characters are designed in such a way that viewers can relate to each other and the reasons for their behavior. Written by Sambit Mishra and Monish K Talpade, this fairy tale is fast paced and almost every episode begins with a murder and the story behind it continues over time in the play, which is quite depressing. Conversations in the ‘bhai log’ language, as well as one liners, are available. Even the background music of Bharatt-Saurabh always attracts and sets the perfect tone for the series. In the end, the unexpected turn of events, as well as the climax of the war, makes for an enjoyable watch.
Apart from the fact that ‘Cartel’ is similar to other group war dramas such as ‘Mum Bhai’, ‘Satya’ and others, they are different web series characters. Tanuj Virwani surpasses everyone in his portrayal of Major Bhau, the only intelligent, calm, organized and appointed man. Jitendra Joshi presents convincing performance as impatient and disgusting Madhu Bhau, who makes first and thinks later. He adds to the humor of the show by giving a real laugh. Girija Oak impresses as Madhu's caring and loving wife, Rama.
The arc of Rithvik Dhanjani’s character is amazing, and he shines through with the variety of emotions that his character portrays. Other characters, such as Samir Soni like Nevelle Dorabjee, his nephew and Abhay, Mahay's love, Maya (played by Monica Dogra), played a key role in circulating the story. Daughters of Angre; Pranati Rai Prakash (like Sumi) and Aditi Vasudev (like Shweta) have no food roles. On the other hand, Dhaval (played by Amey Wagh) as a partner living with Shweta has a real impact.
Supriya Pathak's limited time on the first screen was reduced. He leaves the audience looking for him as soon as he returns at the end of the tenth (late) episode and says, "Angre rote nahi, rulate hain." Four other gang leaders; Kannan Arunachalam as Anna, Shubrajyoti Barat as Gajraj, Ashwath Bhatt as Chairperson and Anil George as Khan also played equally.
My view:
I just finished all 14 episodes in one trip. What a wonderful web site based on gang warfare. The Madhu bhau (Jitendra Joshi) and Major Arjun Angre (Tanuj Virwani) game is a perfect match. Tanuj has very good acting skills and explains everything with his cool hands. You give better after logging in. Conversations are fine and make you remember each word. After spending 10+ hours completing part 1 ... One immediately feels the need for its sequence. It's totally worth the time you spend and it's free for the mx player. This time altbalaji has provided something new and fresh without nudity and discussions of two meanings.
